Former Grand Junction Rockie David Dahl, who started the season at Low-A Asheville, was reassigned to extended spring training Friday by the Colorado Rockies.
On Sunday, last year’s Pioneer League MVP tweeted: “I was sent to extended for missing a flight and for questions about attitude. I respect the Rockies’ decision and will continue to improve as a player, teammate, and as a person.”
In an email from Jay Alves, vice president of communications and PR, the only statement the club is making is: “David made some recent decisions after which the organization felt it was appropriate to send him back to Scottsdale and extended spring training.”
There is no timetable for when the 19-year-old outfielder will receive his next assignment.
Dahl, the 10th overall pick from 2012, went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts during the Tourists’ season-opener on Thursday.
