Late Two-Point Conversion Lifts Fruita Past Highlands Ranch

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.–Juston Ereckson scored on a four-yard touchdown run, then Jake Lynch took in a two-point conversion with 4:35 to play, as Fruita Monument beat Highlands Ranch 18-17 Saturday at Stocker Stadium.

Matt Story intercepted a Keaton Thames pass with 2:25 remaining to seal the victory, snapping a three-game losing streak for the Wildcats.

Senior captain Nate Hammond suffered a neck injury early in the first quarter and was taken to St. Mary’s hospital as a precautionary measure. X-rays came back negative and Hammond was back on the sidelines for the second half.

Fruita will open league action next Friday against Grand Junction.
