I’m a sports reporter/anchor at KREX NewsChannel 5 in Grand Junction, CO. I broke into sports broadcasting as a journalism major at the University of Oklahoma. My first gig was as a sports reporter for the OU Daily–and I quickly learned I had found my passion. At Sam Bradford’s Pro Day, I remember sending my dad a text that said, “I want to do this everyday for the rest of my life.” He responded: “You will.” As a sophomore, I covered everything I could–from spring football, to baseball, to gymnastics. I also wrote features, articles and columns.

During the fall semester of my sophomore year, I began working for the athletic department as a sports reporter at SoonerVision (OU’s in-h0use production studio). I hosted the “Sounds of Saturday” segment on Bob Stoop’s weekly TV show, interviewed players and coaches after OU football games, and reported and produced the “Beyond the Arc” on Jeff Capel’s (2009, 2010) and Lon Kruger’s (2011) shows. Additionally, I contributed to content on Soonersports.com, including a one-on-one interview with Adrian Peterson.

The best memory I have was when I covered the 2010 NFL Draft in New York City for OU’s webzine, Routes. It was the opportunity of a lifetime! I got to interview sports standouts like Drew Brees, Dan Marino and Barry Sanders.

I also worked as a sports reporter and anchor for the journalism school’s award-winning student newscasts. One of my stories was named the 2nd place TV Sports Story by the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association. My experience also includes internships with Fox Sports Southwest, KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City and Texas Motor Speedway.

I absolutely love my job!
